Details	The Whitehouse Consultancy is a fast growing Public and Parliamentary Affairs agency looking to fill the role of an experienced political and public policy Consultant to provide specific support to the team dealing with food and nutrition policy, with particular emphasis on European food law. Job description Lead on tasks allocated to you for specific clients following discussion with the Senior Consultant; work with the Senior Consultant and client lead to establish a long term strategic approach and support on the delivery of the agreed; provide regular feedback and updates to the client lead and your line manager(s) on client development and liaise with the monitoring and intelligence gathering team to provide constant and timely updates to your clients on points of interest and relevance. Draft written correspondence, briefings, research, meeting packs and reports, public policy position statements and target lists of Parliamentarians and officials. Provide detailed guidance to clients on the interplay between a variety of European laws in the food and nutrition sector. Liaise with external individuals or bodies as appropriate. Attend with clients meetings with Parliamentarians and officials and carry forward agreed action. Ensure that you are constantly up to date with issues in the sectors which affect your clients. Lead on policy audits for existing or prospective clients. Support internal communications where our role is to provide Secretariat services to a trade body or other coalition of companies and organisations. Core Competencies and Experience Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject. A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a political and public policy making role in Brussels, Westminster, Whitehall, think tanks, NGOs or the private sector. A good working knowledge of the legislative and political processes in the EU and UK. Knowledge of health policy and food regulation, both national and European, would be an advantage. The ability to understand and digest complex information quickly and effectively. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proven experience of lobbying and working within the mechanisms of Parliament/EU to drive forward demonstrable change. The ability to work and thrive as part of a small and dedicated team as well as without supervision. Experience of presenting reports and presentations both verbally and in writing. The ability to manage and prioritise own workload. Previous line management experience would be an advantage. Proficient in all Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel and Powerpoint and familiar with relevant Parliamentary programmes and search engines.
