Based in UTC's Washington, DC office, this position will report to the Vice President, Energy and Environmental Policy and serve in a key role in UTC's Government Affairs organization as a subject matter expert on key programs within federal agencies that impact UTC's businesses, particularly in the areas of energy and environmental policy. Additionally, this individual will represent UTC to relevant industry and trade associations and coalitions, as well as with Congress and the Executive branch, as necessary.
The ideal candidate will have substantive experience with federal regulations and agency initiatives related to energy efficiency, environmental programs, and sustainability issues, as well as other related agency programs. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have professional staff experience in a federal agency such as the Department of Energy, with a relevant Congressional Committee, or in a related Administration position.
Bachelor's degree in government, political science, or business required. Graduate degree preferred, but not required. Candidates should have at least 10 years of related experience with a combination of industry knowledge and policy application to business initiatives. Candidates should also be able to communicate effectively with senior UTC leadership, as well as Members of Congress and Executive Branch representatives. Interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team environment are required.
