The Raben Group, a progressive public affairs firm with offices in Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles, is seeking an associate. We are a majority-minority firm representing national non-profits, advocacy organizations, foundations and corporations.

The ideal candidate will be a creative, energetic, collegial self-starter with, like us, a sense of humor. The person we select will monitor federal legislative developments; conduct policy research; write memos, speeches and other materials; plan and manage events; schedule and participate in meetings with clients, congressional staff and interest groups; and provide administrative support to our senior staff and clients.

The responsibilities, title and salary for this position will match the experience of the person we hire, and we will give as much responsibility as they can handle. The following qualifications are essential:

  • Knowledge of federal and/or state legislative process, including at least one year of legislative or policy experience
  • Compelling interest in public policy
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Ability and temperament to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of common office applications, including Word and Excel
  • Again, the humor.
