The Policy Director shall provide assistance to the Director General in lobbying the EU institutions on the issues of relevance to the Policy Group concerned. The holder leads the advocacy initiatives originated in the dedicated Working Groups concerned as well as in other forms of organization (taskforce, issue group, etc.) which deemed to be appropriate. The position provides assistance to the Director General in managing its own staff.
The position reports to the Director General and engages with other DE staff, members and relevant EU constituencies to support the successful implementation of the annual DE work programme in line with the DE statutes and bylaws. Furthermore she / he will provide additional support service and subject matter expert advice to the DE members.
Reports to: Director General (DG)
Supervises: TRPG Manager and potentially other team members supporting policy work and respective member services

o Broadcast, e-Inclusion, Market Access, Mobile Broadband, Mobile Terminals
o R&D, Smart Grids, Spectrum, Standardization and Interoperability
Key measures of success:
Personal Profile
Personality: University degree in Political Sciences, Public Affairs, Public Law, Informatics, Engineering or Business Administration or similar study of relevance, At least 5 years experience as a Policy Manager, preferably in the fields of ICT either on corporate level with a major ICT company, at a leading industry association, public institutions and/or in a renowned agency/consultancy. Experience in supervising and managing teams and staff in a multicultural environment is useful but not required for the position.
Specific job skills: Fluent in English; A working knowledge of another Community language (e.g. French) is useful but not required for the position. Proficiency in standard office software and modern communications technology; ability to effectively lead and coordinate work among representatives of competing members and strong experience in serving and coordinating multiple stakeholders and managing conflicts successfully in a cross-cultural environment. The Policy Group Directors shall also display the functional skills required to leverage and further grow DE’s network of influence in Brussels and in the member states
Computer skills: Proficiency in standard office software - MS Office
Sommercial skills: Solid understanding of ICT industry business models and trends
Management ability:Strong project and relationship/communication skills; Ability to motivate and manage small teams for top results; Ability to negotiate and deal with conflict situations
