It’s imperative that people can understand financial matters and manage their money better. It’s equally vital that financial organisations adhere to good practice so that consumers get a fair deal. Here’s a chance to use your external affairs experience to make a positive difference to consumers and improve the UK’s financial capability.
The Consumer Financial Education Body (CFEB) is a national financial service set up by the Financial Services Authority. Its remit is to provide free, impartial advice on money matters over the phone, online and face to face, as well as running strategic programmes that target specific groups.
Our External Affairs & Consumer Policy Team manages the CFEB’s relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including government, the financial services industry and consumer groups. Working autonomously, this role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the strategic direction of our external affairs, deliver our high-profile agenda and influence the continued evolution of the organisation.
You’ll be involved in a huge variety of projects, providing guidance and preparing briefing papers to aid senior management decision-making and leading engagement with major corporates in financial services. As well as gaining a deep knowledge of consumer protection and education in financial services, the role may entail leading and coaching more junior members
We need someone who can make an immediate mark in our fast-moving environment. So you’ll need a track record of creating and delivering an external affairs strategy in a commercial organisation, along with an understanding of the workings of Parliament and government. A multi-tasker who gets things done, you must be able to influence stakeholders and colleagues while remaining diplomatic.
