ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

•   Responsible and Accountable for conducting and managing research projects, drafting consultation responses, research papers and articles on Capital Markets issues 
•   Support the national advocacy activity of the Societies in the region 
• Support the public awareness of CFA Institute, through the preparation of press releases and interviews with the media on Capital Markets issues 
•  Closely collaborate with  the Standards Team in EMEA and the Capital Markets Policy Group 
•  Develop and sustain CFA Institute Capital Markets Policy in the region 
• Deliver inspiring presentations as required to advance the CFA Institute mission before Regulators, Legislators, Society Leaders, Members and other related stakeholders 
•  Execute various projects and initiatives in the region as directed by the Head, CFA Institute Standards – EMEA, including the work of the Capital Market Policy arena, in proposing policies and positions 
• Develop and analyze capital markets project ideas, conduct of research, development of well-articulated arguments and policy papers and standards 
•  Evaluate ideas proposed by the Chair, Advisory Council, Executive Director, Capital Markets Policy Group staff, committee volunteers, and CFA Institute members and member societies 
•    Conduct research and write papers on region’s specific issues that will help markets to better understand and appreciate the state of corporate governance and ethical practices and challenges in the region 
•  Contribute to the development of products and business lines to educate, train and promote CFA Institute standard. 
• Maintain and improve relationships with constituents that are essential to the CFA Centre’s operations in the region 
•  Communicate and build relationships with regulators, legislators  and other stakeholders in the region to exchange information and ideas 
• Communicate with societies and other staff members of the department on CFA Centre initiatives 
• Promulgate Capital Markets Policy Group corporate disclosure positions, policies, and standards, and coordinate and support related public awareness activities 
•  Identify projects and ways to promote higher ethical standards in the region 
•   Represent, as needed the policies and positions of CFA Institute to standard setters, regulators, and other market organizations, such as IOSCO, EU and German regulatory and legislative institutions. 
•   Educate the investing public and our members on our code of ethics 
•   Work with Public Awareness group on media and press releases 
•  Work with the national societies as directed to build and support effective advocacy in the region. 

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably related to finance, economics, or law 
•   Familiarity with policy making in the EU and Germany. Knowledge of EU directives governing capital markets such as MiFID, UCITS, and MAD desirable 
•   At least seven years of business and/or practitioner experience 
•   At least three years of relevant experience in the capital markets, either as a practitioner or in policy development 
•   CFA charter preferred 
•  Strong written and oral communication skills, especially excellent persuasive writing skills 
•  Ethics and integrity – committed to the highest level of ethical, professional, and legal standards 
•   Culturally sensitive and team oriented with the ability to work cross culturally 
•  Language skills – native German speaker, fluent in English both in writing and speech
