The CEA is the European insurance and reinsurance federation. Through its 33 member bodies — the national insurance associations — the CEA represents all types of insurance and reinsurance undertakings, eg pan-European companies, monoliners, mutuals and SMEs. The CEA represents undertakings that account for around 95% of total European premium income. Insurance makes a major contribution to Europe’s economic growth and development. European insurers generate premium income of over €1,050bn, employ one million people and invest more than €6,800bn in the economy.

For our Single Market & Social Affairs Department, we are looking for a (m/f) Policy Advisor Single Market & Social Affairs

Function

  • Monitors EU regulatory initiatives and identifies emerging trends and issues relevant for the European insurance industry, especially on a wide palette of legal and consumer-related areas, with a focus on insurance guarantee schemes (IGS) and European (insurance) contract law.
  • Provides thorough analysis of developments and their impact on the position of CEA’s members.
  • Advises the management about actions to undertake;
  • Organises, coordinates and is responsible for the work of CEA vis-à-vis internal stakeholders, i.e. internally the member organisations and their representatives;
  • Supports CEA working groups and committees. E.g. prepares the meetings, prepares notes, gives comment, helps to build a consensus for a common CEA point of view, takes the minutes of the meeting, develops new action plans as a result of the meeting;
  • Provides services to the CEA-members, e.g. is a point of contact for the members, informs about legislative developments and the sector position;
  • Organizes and assumes responsibility for contacts and coordination with external stakeholders, e.g. the relevant EU authorities as well as other public or private organisations;
  • Is able to develop the CEA position, and to influence external partners;
  • Contributes to studies in order to help formulate proposals for regulation or legislation;
  • Provides content to CEA publications.
  • Participates actively in seminars and conferences;
  • Reports to the Head of department and works as a team player.

Profile
Education in European law and ideally insurance law, knowledge of the European decision making process; A first successful job experience in the financial services sector; Highly developed team spirit; Ability and willingness to think strategically and influence; Very skilled and efficient communicator both verbally and in writing, excellent presentation skills; Strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills and proven track record of ability to build consensus within a given time frame; Experience within an international and multi-cultural environment is a plus; Strong analytical skills; Proficiency in English, other languages desirable; Computer literate (MS Office).
