Details	The American Society for Nutrition (ASN) invites applications for the position of the Director of Government Relations. The ASN is the authoritative leader in nutrition through science with members in 72 countries with major programs in public affairs, publications, and education and professional development. ASN’s headquarters are located in Bethesda, Maryland. The Director of Government Relations develops and implements a public policy program linked closely to ASN’s mission. Advocates policies that advance nutrition research and practice and benefits ASN membership. Leadership and management skills are important in order to provide strong and effective advocacy for nutrition and related research priorities of the Society with Congress, Federal agencies, with elected officials and the public. Qualified candidates should have a minimum of eight years experience in the advocacy/government relations field. Hill experience is a plus. Excellent communication, interpersonal and management skills required as well as the ability to build liaisons and coalitions with federal, public, private, and industry-supported organizations. A background in nutrition and experience in advocacy through governmental and non-governmental agencies, as well as skills in working with media strongly desired.
