The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, a membership association created to advance the art and science of ophthalmic surgery and the knowledge and skills of ophthalmic surgeons, is seeking an Associate Director of Regulatory Affairs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, influence, and report on significant regulatory developments of interest to keep the Society’s members aware of potential changes that could impact their practices.
  • Prepare written correspondence including comments on regulatory proposals on behalf of the ASCRS to the regulatory agencies.
  • Represent the Society and its members by developing and maintaining relationships with the regulatory agencies.
  • Participate in and represent ASCRS in health information technology and quality initiatives.
  • Participate in relevant advisory councils, panels, committees, and meetings and advise the Society’s staff and members of significant outcomes.
  • Contribute to a weekly governmental affairs newsletter update to members and other articles and correspondence for communication to the membership.
  • Staff liaison to the FDA committee and Health Information Technology Subcommittee.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of related experience in regulatory affairs or practice management.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated competence in preparing budgets, reports and training materials, etc.
  • Proficiency operating a PC using Microsoft Office software.
