SUMMARY:

An Associate Director will play a key role in the execution of the business plan and will participate in the decision making process. An Associate Director will be involved with day–to–day management of projects, providing input and adhering to project budgets, leading either a practice group or a project team and mentoring junior staff. An Associate Director will interface with clients and consult with them regarding project issues, make recommendations as to the strategies that should be used to achieve client goals, and inform senior management of upcoming or current issues on accounts. In addition, an Associate Director is required to show demonstrated strategic and tactical abilities, strong written and oral communication skills and identify new business opportunities. An Associate Director will have responsibility for managing, developing and conducting the performance appraisals of staff at Consultant Level and below. 


RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Initiate internal and client meetings and conference calls 
  • Manage client project work on a daily basis 
  • Serve as client contact for specific tasks or projects 
  • Identify ways to grow current client accounts 
  • Ensure that all project deadlines are met 
  • Assist in responding to RFPs and preparing proposals by drafting text 
  • Conduct research and analyse issues that may impact client business 
  • Produce accurate written reports, such as press releases, summaries, reports and other client materials that require little or no revisions Participate in client planning meetings and brainstorming sessions 
  • Monitor media to find new business development opportunities 
  • Monitor business/government issues; stay up to date on current issues 
  • Execution of the business plan for the office 
  • Manage a practice group or a project team 
  • Delegate and manage work of junior staff and follow–up on progress and completion 
  • Manage and conduct performance appraisals for designated staff 
  • Manage internal communications with project team and other staff 
  • Develop budget and track expenses against client budget 
  • Monitor expenses and costs charged to project accounts 
  • Ensure that client bills are accurate and timely 
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure payment of expenses
  • Mentor junior staff 

Requirements:
  • University degree in related field or equivalent work experience
  • Appropriate experience in public relations, government affairs or business consulting experience.
  • Good understanding of the role of the media in public relations/government affairs.
  • Experience in the field of new business development.
