The Mission of Americans Elect

• In order for Americans to enjoy the governance they deserve, Americans Elect will organize an Internet-based convention to nominate a presidential ticket in 2012 that will bridge the vital center of American public opinion.

• The winning presidential and vice presidential nominees will be on the ballot in all 50 states and will be a competitive alternative to candidates put forward by the Democratic and Republican parties.

• Every registered voter can become a delegate and decide who will run for and who will win the Americans Elect nomination.

• The Americans Elect mission is not to create a permanent third party but instead to empower Americans to choose a viable presidential ticket that is responsive to the vast majority of citizens while remaining independent of the partisan interests of either major party.

Goals of the Americans Elect Policy Team

• Develop the Platform of Questions which all Americans Elect Candidates will have to answer in conjunction with the Platform Committee.

• Facilitate the interaction between the Americans Elect Delegates and the Rules Committee in the lead up to the completion of the rules and the 2012 Convention.

• Work with the Candidate Certification Committee to create a fair and transparent process by which Candidate Tickets are certified as left or right of center based on their responses to the Platform of Questions.

Duties of the Deputy Policy Director

The Deputy Policy Director will work closely with the Policy Director to achieve the above goals for Americans Elect. Specifically, the Deputy Policy Director will aid the Policy Team’s efforts to engage with the individuals and organizations which will contribute to the development of the Platform of Questions, Rules and Candidate Certification. Once key individuals and 2 organizations are engaged, the Deputy Policy Director will work closely with the Policy Director to aid in the building of mechanisms that create an interactive and positive Delegate experience across the Platform of Questions, Rules and Candidate Certification. As these mechanisms are deployed the Deputy Policy Director will play a central role in addressing any issues that may arise regarding the systems that have been created.
