AJC, the global Jewish advocacy organization, seeks an Executive Director of its Brussels-based affiliate, the AJC Transatlantic Institute. Established in 2004, the Institute maintains AJC access to European Union and NATO sectors and civil society in Brussels, monitoring political and strategic developments and conveying the organization’s perspectives on transatlantic, human rights, counterterrorism, Middle East policy and other issues. In addition to serving as the Institute’s chief representative in Brussels, the Executive Director will advise AJC leadership on European and trans-Atlantic political and strategic issues, Jewish communal concerns, and other relevant matters, and heighten AJC’s European profile to further the organization’s institutional objectives.
Specific areas of interest include Israel’s security and regional concerns; combating anti-Semitism and other bigotry; problems of immigrant integration and identity; affirming the transatlantic community of democratic values. Experience/facility in these issue areas is essential.
Under the direction of AJC’s Office of Government and International Affairs, the Executive Director will be responsible for the Institute’s management, budget, board relations, and coordination with other AJC program and liaison units, including four other European offices. The Executive Director will assist in Institute fund-raising. Experience in these administrative/institutional areas is desired.
Relevant governmental and/or non-governmental-organization experience, academic credentials, publishing history, and language skills will be factors in assessing candidates’ qualifications for this Brussels-based position.
